Overview: STUDENT TEACHING I 0708-616 or 0708-660

NOTE: Prior to Spring, 2002, these courses were entitled Field Experience or Field Participation 

PREREQUISITES for Registration for Student Teaching I (see also Registration Information)
  • Neg. TB test results on file with TED Program Secretary
  • Certificate of Clearance OR Current emergency Permit  issued by the CTC, and on file with the TED Program Secretary.
  • Proof of Subject Mastery (see Registration Information)

MULTIPLE SUBJECT Credential Students

  • 12 weeks
  • 2 mornings / week (approx. 8 hrs. total)
  • One School Site
  • Public or Private School {if a Private School site is selected for Student Teaching I, Student Teaching II & III must be done in a Public School site}
  • One Classroom: Primary Level (K-3) OR Upper Elementary(3-8) {recall that whatever level is chosen for Student Teaching I, Student Teaching II & III must be done at the ALTERNATE level}
IMPORTANT NOTE for Multiple Subject Candidates who are FULL-TIME TEACHERS:

If you intend to use your full-time teaching job for Student Teaching II and III, you will not be able to count that experience for Student Teaching I as well.  It is recommended that you plan your course of studies so that you will register for Student Teaching II and II during a FALL semester. In that case, you can register for Student Teaching I during the previous summer. During that summer session, you must student teach at a grade level different from your regular school year assignment.

Registration for the Summer Session of Student Teaching I is limited to USF Multiple Subjects Credential Students who have proof of full-time employment (e.g., contract) at a school for the following Fall Semester.
