STUDENT TEACHING (II & III)
- One
eighteen-week placement (see note)
- If
Student Teaching I was done in a public school, Student Teaching II
& III may be done in a private school classroom.
- Follow
the calendar of the school placement for holidays, end of the semester,
etc.
- Note:
While the placement is approximately 18 weeks long, students need
to be available for beginning-of- semester school meetings and classroom
planning, and activities associated with the end of the semester.
Be sure to check with your assigned school / master teacher(s) about
these dates.
- Even
if a student has been waived from Student Teaching II, the student must
attend all meetings of the seminar during the fall semester.
- Once
the student teaching assignment has been confirmed, a student is not
to modify or change this assignment without the prior explicit
permission of the Field Placement Coordinator (Dr. Dillon).
STUDENT
TEACHING II & III – Multiple Subject Credential
- The
placement (all day / every class day) is done in a grade-level classroom
(K-3 or 3-5) different from the grade level placement of Student
Teaching I. Grade 6, 7, or 8 may be used for upper-level placement, if
it is a "self-contained" classroom.
STUDENT
TEACHING II & III – Single-Subject Credential
- The
placement is done in a middle or high school setting, for the equivalent
of three class prep periods a day / every day.
- Two
of the preps must be at two different levels (e.g.,
9th & 11th gr. English; World & American
History, etc.)– these can be done with the same teacher
or two different teachers.
- The
third period may be an extracurricular, tutoring, assisting the Master
teacher, etc.
